The Good
#24 – My sorority sister survived a fire.
This year, my sorority sisters and I had a great time watching movies, snacking, laughing, and strolling. It was the first time in a long time that we had bonded and I was loving every minute. No one was expecting that same apartment complex to be ablaze and my big sister having to jump off the balcony to save her life. I can still feel the carpet on the palms of my hands as we sat around the TV like giddy children at a sleepover. When she lost her things, I was shocked at how soon we had been there… but the fact that she didn’t lose her life is everything to me.
The Lesson
You never know what changes a moment can bring, so you need to enjoy every one of them. One day we were kicking it over her place and the next she was without one. I cherished the memories, but more importantly, it made me want to create new ones. It made me truly soak in the surroundings and swim in the flow of life. I hope this post encourages you to do the same. In the words of Jonathan McReynolds, we’re not lucky, we are loved.
Peace & Thanks for listening, Sweetheart!
